So after taking some serious scrutiny of my lifestyle, here are some revelations that can help keep you on track with staying healthy. Care for yourself
It all starts with yourself. What do you really want to do? What will make you happy? Staying healthy will enable you to enjoy the things you want to do longer. It will make you appreciate these even more. Stay away from or manage your triggers I noticed that I eat more when I’m stressed. When I do not get enough sleep, I compensate by having an extra snack. When I stay up late working, a snack will keep me awake. These are the triggers I discovered that make me eat more than I should. If I can manage my stress better, get more sleep, and avoid late nights, then I can reduce the times I overeat. Gradual and sustainable changes Following a very rigid and strict diet over a prolonged period of time is difficult. Sometimes, the ingredients needed are hard to find. You have to prepare meals in a certain way that takes more time than usual. It can also get expensive. In the long run, I find it difficult to overhaul my diet overnight. Make small gradual changes to what you eat. Maybe a few more grams of fiber to start with. Then another small change after that, like no sugary drinks. Eventually, you will be able to easier adapt to your new diet. The changes you make should also be feasible for you to continue doing. Find a support group It's always easier to stay the path when you have someone helping you. Someone you can talk to and keep you in the same path. Someone who can help motivate you. Be patient Change takes time. Do not be dismayed by slow results. Some changes are very subtle and will not be noticed right away. Just stay the path and continue what you are doing.
